CAP Leadership Update
After two years of impactful service as CEO of CAP, Paul Lumley will be stepping down from his role, effective July 1st, to take on a new position as Chief Advancement Officer at the Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA).
This is both a heartfelt farewell and a celebration. During Paul’s tenure, CAP reached several transformative milestones: opening a second Prism Health clinic, securing $4 million in state funding to purchase the new Prism facility, completing a bold new Strategic Plan, and launching the CAP Resilience Fund with a $1 million seed gift from the Heatherington Foundation. Under his leadership, CAP has become better positioned meet the evolving needs of our communities.
As Paul shared in his own words:
It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve this organization and our mission—advancing health equity and advocating for the rights and wellbeing of people living with HIV and members of the LGBTQ+ community. I am deeply proud of the work we have done together and the impact we’ve made.
We are glad to have been part of Paul’s journey, and equally proud to see him return to a vital leadership role at NAYA, where he will continue building equity, strength, and opportunity for Indigenous communities.
Interim Leadership
We are also proud to share that Kristi Addis (Chief Programs Officer) and Kevin Bumatay (Chief Finance & Operations Officer) will serve as interim co-Chief Executive Officers of Cascade AIDS Project.
Kristi and Kevin bring a combined wealth of experience, deep institutional knowledge, and an unwavering commitment to CAP’s mission. Their leadership will ensure a strong, steady course as we continue to navigate a landscape of uncertainty for the communities we serve.
This is a critical time for public health and LGBTQ+ equity. Federal funding for HIV prevention is under threat. Transgender rights are being rolled back across the country. And yet, through all of this, CAP’s work continues—with purpose, with compassion, and with the power of community. Under Kristi and Kevin’s interim leadership, CAP remains firmly focused on:
Protecting and delivering essential safety net and health care services to our clients and community
Supporting our dedicated staff and the implementing of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement
Advancing key partnerships with government, corporate, and private funders & supporters
Laying the groundwork for a thoughtful, inclusive search for permanent leadership
The Road Ahead
We continue building on the progress CAP has made—strengthening our financial foundation, expanding access to affirming care through Prism Health, and investing in long-term sustainability across our programs. CAP was founded in the face of crisis and adversity. For more than four decades, we’ve responded not only with resilience, but with resistance, innovation, and love. That spirit guides us now, as it always has.
Thank you for being part of our community, and for standing with us during this time of change. We remain honored to do this work together.
