Organization Update: We Are Now CAP Northwest!

Dear friends,

I'm writing to share a meaningful step in our organization's story. After more than forty years as Cascade AIDS Project, we are excited to announce that we are now CAP Northwest. This change has been years in the making, shaped by our staff, our board, and the communities we serve across Oregon and Washington. It reflects how much our work has grown while honoring the history that built us.

When we began, we were a community's response to the HIV epidemic. That work remains at the heart of who we are. Over the decades, the people we serve have asked more of us, and we've grown to meet them: affirming medical care through Prism Health, residential care through Our House, HIV & STI prevention, harm reduction, mental health, and community support across the region. CAP Northwest brings all of our work together under one umbrella of care.

The name also carries a meaning we hold close. CAP has always been committed to Caring About People. It's the foundation of our history and our future, and it describes the one thing that connects every program and every person who walks through our doors. Today, you'll begin to see our new name, CAP Northwest, across our communications.

I do want to reiterate that this new name does not mean we’re stepping back from HIV. Our commitment to HIV care, prevention, and advocacy is as strong as it has ever been. It also does not change your relationship with CAP, Prism Health, Our House, or any of our programs, which continue exactly as you know them. Lastly, it does not change the people, the care, or the values you've come to trust.

Our refreshed visual identity will follow over the coming months, rolling out thoughtfully and deliberately, with everything fully in place by the start of 2027. We're choosing to move at a pace that lets us do this well, because a rushed version of this work wouldn't honor what it represents.

And we don't want to do it alone. As our new look takes shape, we'll be inviting members of our community to share their perspectives through focus groups and feedback sessions. The people we serve have always shaped who we are, and this next chapter should be no different.

If you'd like to be part of a focus group or feedback sessions, send us a quick message to let us know at comms@capnw.org!

With big changes come big questions, and we're here to answer them all! For answers to some of the most common questions you might have, please visit our brand update FAQ. You can also reach out to us directly.

With gratitude,
