Cascade AIDS Project Appoints Kevin Bumatay as Chief Executive Officer
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Portland, OR — Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) is proud to annouce the appointment of Kevin Bumatay as its next Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2026. Bumatay was selected following a rigorous, months-long search process led by CAP’s Board of Directors and Search Committee, with meaningful input from staff across the organization.
Bumatay currently serves as CAP’s Interim Co-CEO and previously held the role of Chief Financial and Operating Officer. In these roles, he has helped strengthen CAP’s financial stewardship, operational foundation, and people-centered practices—work that has supported organizational stability, continuity of services, and long-term sustainability during a period of leadership transition.
“Kevin has demonstrated thoughtful, transparent leadership and a deep commitment to CAP’s mission throughout his tenure. After a comprehensive and inclusive search process, it became clear that Kevin’s operational expertise, strategic vision, and ability to lead with integrity uniquely position him to guide CAP into its next chapter. We are confident in his leadership and excited about the future of the organization under his direction.”
- Kris Young, CAP Board President
Bumatay brings decades of leadership experience across nonprofit and public-sector organizations. Prior to joining CAP, he served as Chief Financial Officer and Interim Co-Executive Director at Ecotrust and held senior leadership roles at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where he supported the funding and implementation of the Affordable Care Act. His career also includes leadership positions at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Portland Bureau of Transportation, and the U.S. Navy.
“It is an honor to continue serving CAP and the communities who rely on our programs and services. CAP’s mission is deeply personal to me, and I am grateful for the trust placed in me by the Board, staff, and community. I look forward to working alongside this dedicated team to strengthen access to equitable care, build lasting partnerships, and ensure CAP remains a place of stability, dignity, and possibility for the people we serve.”
- Kevin Bumatay, CAP CEO
The Board also expresses its gratitude to Kristi Addis, who served alongside Bumatay as Interim Co-CEO during the transition period, as well as the Executive Leadership Team for their continued leadership and guidance.
